The key
ingredient of any health and safety program is effective training. OSHA mandates training
in many of its regulations. Merely having written health and safety programs does not
ensure compliance. The programs must be given "life" through effective initial
training, and be reinforced through periodic refresher training.
The Cohen Group offers professionals in environmental, health and safety disciplines who are well qualified to provide training in all aspects of health and safety. Each member of our senior staff has more than 15 years of broad experience in environmental, health and/or safety issues. Our trainings are based on this experience and the client’s operations. It is a Cohen Group policy not to offer dry, "canned" trainings that are irrelevant to the situation at hand. Instead, we use our experience in the client’s industry, the situations we’ve encountered and the knowledge we’ve gained, to impart meaningful information to the trainees, information that results in a change in the way they perceive and accomplish their work. The Cohen Group develops and employs multi-media programs geared to maximize participation, interest, and retention. Some trainings also involve simulations and/or drills. |
SUCCESS! A manufacturing firm sought assistance in providing a series of training programs to employees. The Cohen Group prepared "turn-key" training modules, including visual and training manuals, and conducted "train-the-trainer" programs for supervisors. Each supervisor was assisted in preparation of trainings in chemical handling training, spill cleanup and hazardous waste handling specific to their operations. The first training was conducted by The Cohen Group with all subsequent training performed by in-house supervisory personnel. | |
