One of the largest aspects of The Cohen Group’s business is providing on-going services to clients on a retainer basis. With our broad experience in environmental, health and safety issues, we are capable of providing a full range of support to our clients. With small to medium-sized companies, we often serve as their environmental, health and safety "department," performing all the duties of a health & safety officer. These duties may include conducting safety meetings and trainings, performing inspections, auditing compliance programs, exposure monitoring, new operation evaluation, writing reports, recordkeeping and developing and submitting permit applications. With other firms, we act as an adjunct to their environmental, health and safety staff, fulfilling training, monitoring, audit, crisis management functions, technical and regulatory compliance oversight, even offering 24-hour emergency response.

A start-up electronics manufacturer approached The Cohen Group to determine what was required to bring the company into compliance. After auditing the company's operations for compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, we developed a comprehensive program to manage current and foreseeable compliance. The Cohen Group initially functioned as the environmental, health and safety department of the company on retainer for almost two years, until it approached 300 employees. Working with the company's Human Resources staff, we sought, interviewed, trained and technically supported the new staff member. Over 10 years later, we remain on retainer with the company to provide technical oversight, auditing, training, crisis assistance, and as-needed technical consultation.
