industrial hygiene
Industrial hygiene may be defined as the science and art devoted to the anticipation,
recognition, evaluation and control of environmental factors which may cause impaired
health or significant discomfort among workers or the community. We at The Cohen
Group take our professional commitment to industrial hygiene seriously.
Senior staff are all certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene in the
comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene and cumulatively have more than 75 years of
professional experience in the field. We are active in local and national American
Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) groups and committees.
The Cohen Group
conducts air monitoring using state-of-the art methodology to ensure accurate assessments
of worker exposure and workplace conditions. We're continually involved with developing
and implementing sampling protocols in challenging situations ranging from construction
sites to biotech laboratories to semiconductor equipment manufacturing facilities. |

SUCCESS!
A large semiconductor manufacturer asked The
Cohen Group to evaluate several new operations and to develop an exposure-monitoring
program. The monitoring was to assess both daily exposures and those that occurred during
maintenance operations. All hazardous chemical and physical agents present were to be
addressed. The Cohen Group evaluated the operations and developed a monitoring strategy.
We were then asked to implement the schedule. Over the subsequent 12-month period, The
Cohen Group conducted air monitoring for solvents, corrosives and gases, measured
emissions of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and assessed noise exposure. All
measurements were documented and comprehensive reports were issued to management. The
reports included a management summary and detailed presentations of monitoring methods,
findings, relevant exposure standards and guidelines, and recommendations for remedial
measures where findings exceeded exposure standards. Following workplace changes, the
areas were monitored again to demonstrate the success of the corrective actions. |
